Short description
The presentation will show how companies in the petroleum distribution and pellet transport sectors can open up new horizons for their fleets by turning to the digitalisation of transport processes.
Description
Dr Jürgen Stausberg shows how easy it is today to achieve efficiency gains with fleets as small as 5 trucks using new on-demand cloud services. In many cases, these benefits become apparent when you start to measure delivery performance and incorporate these measurements into automated route planning. Savings of 10% and more per unit delivered can often be achieved through improved truck utilisation and shorter routes.
Uploading orders, daily dynamic optimisation taking into account products, truck capacity, customer time windows and costs is one aspect.
Determining reliable target times using GPS tracking and special ATEX-certified sensors and transmitting the data to the driver's tablet is the other.
Electronic delivery notes, automated working time recording, remote tachograph download, driver feedback via scorecards are other topics that simplify processes and prevent errors.
Telematics and safety will also be addressed, from the integration of turning assistants into the telematics solution to the 10-MAX80 rules for truck drivers, which Dieter Schäfer, former police director in Mannheim, says should be practised in every company.
Finally, employees' fears of change and how to communicate correctly in this context so that the new technologies are accepted and lived.
